Method

Mix the sour cream and hot sauce in a small cup until uniform. Set aside.
Smashed Beef

Season the ground chuck with chili powder, cumin, and salt. Roll into two tight, equal-sized balls.
Cheddar Crust

Heat a seasoned cast-iron skillet or flattop griddle over medium-high heat. Scatter the shredded cheddar cheese directly onto the hot surface in two equal circular piles. Immediately press several jalapeno slices into the melting cheese.
