Update PT 2 - Scanning Error Related To Service Outage
By admin · 2026-07-12
As noted prior, on July 9 we had a service outage due to one of our upstream providers (Google), which impacted some of the app (scanning, coach). The service outage was resolved and will have road mapped, but not yet implemented, a fallback function that will prevent this from happening in the future.
Since the July 9 service outage, we've seen 12 intermittent errors with the scan functionality. You may have seen something like this on your screen when scanning:
Scan error: Expecting ',' delimiter: line 21 column 4 (char 476)
This is a downstream error from the service outage. This is due to data delivery changing from the provider and no mention in documentation. (Yay, no warning).
@PrimalHawk_3685 -- @jules this may have been causing the calorie counting issue earlier. I asked staff and have tried to replicate calorie counting issues but no luck thus far. I will continue to look.

Catching up on messages today. Please disregard the email I just sent with the similar error message. And yes, as Dsylikm stated, it worked for me on the second attempt.

Thanks. I'll continue to monitor.

@jules - as an FYI - you should not see that after today (Sunday). I have explicit, real time, monitoring on now to see if the data validation issue is still being passed on any of the features. Appreciate you!
Save recipes, scan meals, and track your keto score in the app.
