A KETOGENIC DIET ACCELERATES BLOOD-SPINAL CORD BARRIER RESEALING AND DECREASES SPINAL CORD IMMUNE CELL ACCUMULATION IN A PRECLINICAL MODEL OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS.

This preclinical study, available as a preprint, demonstrates that a medium chain triglyceride and ω-3 fatty acid enriched ketogenic diet significantly reduces immune cell infiltration into the spinal cord and accelerates blood-spinal cord barrier resealing in a mouse model of multiple sclerosis (MS). The findings suggest that a ketogenic diet may ameliorate autoimmune-mediated MS-like pathologies, promoting functional recovery and potentially aiding in healing disrupted blood-CNS barriers and resolving inflammation in multiple neurodegenerative diseases.
